NATIONAL SCHOOL EVENTS IN FEBRUARY

Inject some team spirit to school life this February by taking part in some fun and educational school events based on the National Awareness Days calendar.
All the events are school friendly, and many include free support packs and resources, so can be organised with minimum effort.
February 2017
NSPCC Number Day
Date: 3rd February
About: Exchange Maths for cash. Number Day is the NSPCC’s national fundraising event for schools. The charity appreciates participation of all kinds, from a one-hour maths task, to a full day numerical extravaganza.
Extras: Registered schools will receive a Number Day pack including fundraising tips and ideas, maths activities, teaching resources and posters.

Safer Internet Day
Date: 7th February
About: Coordinated by the UK Safer Internet Centre, the day sees schools and organisations promoting safe, responsible and positive use of digital technology for children and young people. The motto of this year’s Safer Internet Day is ‘Be the change: unite for a better internet’
Extras: On the website, there are a number of Education Packs and TV films for varying age ranges, including 5 to 7s, 7 to 11s, 11 to 14s, 11 to 18s, and parents & carers.

Fairtrade Fortnight
Date: 27th February to 12th March
About: Fairtrade Fortnight is a national celebration that allows campaigners, businesses, schools and places of worship to show to their support for farmers and workers growing food in developing countries.
Extras: Primary schools and secondaries schools can enter a competition for the Fairtrade Fortnight Schools Award 2017 with a £350 prize award.
