January Dates for Your Diary

A new year and new beginnings! Engage your class with some varied and exciting activities.

Big Schools’ Birdwatch 2019

1st January – 22nd February 2019

Inspire Your Class

Every year, educators from every corner of the UK take part, turning their classes into conservation scientists and helping us track the ups and downs of birds across the country.

Registration opens from the 22nd October 2018 and the final day for results submission is the 22nd February 2019. After this we’ll share the results of your surveys so your class can see how their research is contributing.

This is a great opportunity to make the most of what nature has to offer. Step outside into the environment and note what you see! The surveys should only take an hour so you can easily fit them into your class timetable. Worksheets and activity packs are provided by rspb.

This research helps to inform conservation in the UK and is an opportunity to enlighten children about the birds they share their environments with.

Register to take part here.

Big Energy Saving Week 2019

21st – 25th January 2019

Cut fuel bills in school and at home, whilst helping save the planet!

Big Energy Savings Week is a national campaign to help people cut their energy bills. It is also an opportunity to do what is needed to help curb the effects of climate change.

Engaging children in this cause will help pave the way for future generations to try and create a sustainable path for the planet.

Small changes at home grow into bigger changes for the planet so it is vital that children understand the benefits of these minimal domestic amends.

We have put together a handy guide for how we can all help save energy in school and at home.
