March Dates for Your Diary

From Books to Beds and Science to Spring Cleans, March takes you from Britain to the rest of the World with exciting events and competitions in the first half of the month. So with a fast turnaround required to take part, here is our short rundown of how you and your school can get involved.

World Book Day

1st March

World Book Day falls on Thursday 1st March

Celebrate stories. Love reading.

World Book Day is a celebration of authors, illustrators, books and, most importantly, reading, across over 100 countries all over the world.

After 21 years celebrating World Book Day in the UK, the main aim is still to encourage children to explore the pleasures of books and reading by providing them with the opportunity to have a book of their own. Visit the World Book Day Resources section which is full of exciting and fun resources based on favourite books, brands, characters and authors.

Great British Spring Clean

2nd March – 4th March

The Great British Spring Clean is a campaign with a simple aim: to bring people across the country together to clear up the litter that blights our towns, villages, countryside and beaches.

We want to inspire 400,000 people to get outdoors, get active and help clear up the rubbish that lies around us. Join our growing army of #LitterHeroes who have had enough of other people’s litter and are willing to do something about it.

Together we can make a difference and clean up the environment on our doorstep.

British Science Week

9th March – 18th March

British Science Week, run by the British Science Association is a ten-day celebration of science, technology, engineering and maths, featuring entertaining and engaging events and activities across the UK for people of all ages.

British Science Week provides a platform to stimulate and support teachers, STEM professionals, science communicators and the general public to produce and participate in STEM events and activities.

Anyone can organise an event or activity, and the British Science Association helps organisers plan by providing free activity and support resources. We welcome and support any type of organiser, from schools to community groups, from parents to large organisations. The resulting programme of events is a hugely varied and eclectic mix.

In support of British Science Week 2018, ComputerXplorers is offering FREE programming classes as part of their event Programming for Primaries. To find out more information and to see how your school can participate, click here.
