June Dates for Your Diary

Now that the exams period is over, June brings the opportunity to spend time on extra-curricular and alternative activities.

World Environment Day

Wednesday 5th June 2018

#BeatAirPollution

Nine out of ten people breathe polluted air. From 24 May, through to #WorldEnvironmentDay on June 5, we are calling on everyone to join the Mask Challenge. Face masks are a great symbol to show leaders we want to breathe clean air.

Air pollution is a growing issue in inner-city primary schools across the UK. Our children are being exposed to more pollution as the number of vehicles on our roads continues to grow.

Get involved.

World Oceans Day

Saturday 8th June 2018

Preventing plastic pollution and encouraging solutions for a healthy ocean.

As World Oceans Day comes back around, the focus is still on reducing plastic pollution. You can find hints and tips for reducing plastic use in schools in our blog post here.

You will find ways to participate and resources on the World Oceans Day website.

Children’s Art Week

8th to 16th June 2018

Save the Date for Children’s Art Week 2019!

This year Children’s Art Week will take place from Saturday 8 – Sunday 16 June, with the kind support of the Arts Society and The D’Oyly Carte Charitable Trust.

Children’s Art Week is a fantastic opportunity to encourage families, children and young people to visit local venues and enjoy fun creative activities that they might not have tried before.

In 2018 more than 14,000 children, young people and adults took part in events across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

Find out more here.

Bike Week

8th to 16th June 2018

Bike Week is a great opportunity to celebrate the social, health and environmental benefits of cycling.

Here’s hoping for a week of lovely weather to get out on your bike. Whether it’s encouraging teachers & pupils to cycle to school, or teaching safety & cycling skills, this week is a great opportunity to get outdoors and do a little bit for the environment.

There are various events across the country to get involved with.

For more information and resources visit the Bike Week website.
